Yesterday was a very monumental day for me because I finally purchased my own very FIRST plant, ever. I can't wait to fill my room with tons of succulents and colorful plants within the next few months since I don't want to "force" the visual change as well the responsibilities that arise. Like constantly watering, making sure no direct sunlight (or maybe they like basking in the sunlight, havta ask the plant first), and of course making space. The baby pictured here is a little aloe vera plant stationed in a vintage pipe mixture can flask-like box. Couldn't be more me if it tried! (maybe if I stuck a glittery eye sticker on it it could technically be more me, heh). 

On a note that doesn't have to do with plants, these sunglasses from ZeroUV are perfect (and $10!). They've quickly turned into my favorite pair I've ever owned. I'm surprised they haven't gotten loose or cracked or any of that since I've worn them with practically all my outfits these days. So good. I also tend to shy away from cat-eye styles but again, these do not disappoint. Also, no squinting involved ever when worn, which is great because I hate looking more angry/sad/disappointed than I already naturally (and unintentionally) do! I swear I'm not holding a butcher knife behind my back and a warrant to kill you, sir stranger!!

This outfit summarizes what my style has basically evolved to, except it's probably missing some type of weirdo hat and some tie-dye situation... In other news that is much more interesting than style, not to mention important, I ran into this article. The article titled, "'Smile, baby': The words no woman wants to hear" in summary describes the detrimental effects sexual harassment (for example, cat calls) can have on women and how objectifying it is. 

This is a line that really stuck out to me because I can really identify with a few of these: 

"The younger the girl, the more negative the possible effects, which are well documented and can include depression, shame, headaches, anxiety, withdrawal, fear, self-objectification and more."

In the next paragraph, it also lists incidents and fatalities due to a woman not responding the way a man wanted her to respond after instigating and harassing:

"In San Francisco last year, a man stabbed a woman in the face and arm after she didn’t respond positively to his sexually harassing her on the street.  In Bradenton, Fla., a man shot a high school senior to death after she and her friends refused to perform oral sex at his request. In Chicago, a scared 15-year-old was hit by a car and died after she tried escaping from harassers on a bus.  Just Google, 'Man grabs woman.' The problem with street harassment isn’t the demand that a woman smile or perform fellatio, the problem is the answer to the question, 'What if a woman doesn’t want to?'"

Street harassment is disgusting and I'm really glad that websites like I Hollaback exist. The website is proactive and helps (well, as much as it can) put an end to stress harassment.

Bangs are finally growin' out, heat is finally sizzling down, I'm cooking my own meals, the Miracle Eye homepage and product shots are lookin' nicer and nicer... These are some good times and good vibes. You should also totally watch this awesome video of this pastor shitting his pants after asking a politician why he supports gay marriage for some more happy vibes. I swear, it's good. Oh, and the title of my post isn't a typo, it's the title of a fantastic song by the Brian Jonestown Massacre!
